Accessibility

1. Our Aim

W89 GmbH wants this Website to be usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability, assistive technology, or device. As a benchmark we follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, conformance level AA.

We deliberately describe this as a benchmark rather than a certification. This Website has not been audited by an independent accessibility body. The statements below are based on our own review and on measurements we carried out ourselves.

2. What We Have Implemented

• The site works without a mouse. Every interactive element can be reached and operated by keyboard, and the focus indicator is visible at every step.
• A skip link lets keyboard users jump straight to the main content.
• Headings follow a single, unbroken hierarchy, with exactly one first-level heading per page.
• Text contrast has been calculated with the WCAG formula, not estimated. Every colour combination used for text on this site clears the AA threshold for normal-size body text, including the gold, which was darkened until it did.
• The layout works down to a 320 pixel viewport and at 200 percent zoom without horizontal scrolling.
• The site works completely without JavaScript. Every page renders in full, and the email link on the home page is a plain mailto link written into the page itself, so it opens your mail program whether scripting is on or off.
• There are no images anywhere on the site, so there is nothing that depends on a description being read out.
• Animations respect the "reduced motion" setting of your operating system. Nothing on the site moves, blinks or loops indefinitely: the one animation, the tagline typing itself out on the home page, runs for about two and a half seconds and then stops for good. With "reduced motion" switched on it does not run at all and the sentence is simply there.
• While that tagline is being typed, the partially written line is hidden from screen readers and the complete sentence is provided alongside it, so assistive technology never announces a fragment such as "Payi".

3. Known Limitations

We would rather name these than leave them for you to discover:

• We have not tested with every combination of screen reader and browser. Our testing was carried out with automated measurements and keyboard navigation, not with a full manual assistive-technology audit.
• The body text is set in a monospaced typeface. That is a deliberate design choice, but monospaced text over several screenfuls, as on these legal pages, is harder work for some readers than a proportional face. If it is a problem for you, please tell us.
• The Website is available in English only. There is currently no German version.

If you hit a barrier that is not listed here, that is exactly the kind of thing we want reported.

4. Legal Position

W89 GmbH is a private company based in Switzerland. The Swiss Disability Discrimination Act (BehiG, SR 151.3) primarily binds federal and cantonal bodies as well as licensed public transport undertakings; under the law currently in force it imposes no technical accessibility requirements on ordinary private company websites. Art. 6 BehiG does prohibit private providers of public services from discriminating on the basis of disability.

A partial revision of the BehiG, adopted by the Federal Council as a dispatch to Parliament on 20 December 2024, is intended to extend the scope to private undertakings offering publicly accessible commercial services, using WCAG 2.2 level AA as the reference. That revision is not yet in force.

We follow the recognised international standards regardless, because we regard accessibility as a mark of quality rather than a compliance exercise.
